Abstract

The article presents an uncompromising struggle of doctors with infections at the turn of the 19–20th centuries in the Katerynoslav region. The major epidemics at that time were: cholera, smallpox, diphtheria, plague, spotted and relapsing fevers and so on. Statistic data are provided on the spread of epidemics in the Katerynoslav region. The methods of fighting infectious diseases have been described.
