Background. Chronic pancreatitis is a disease with severe course that leads eventually to disturbances of all types of metabolism and progression of nutritional deficiency with increasing age of patients. The purpose was to conduct a laboratory study of vitamin and mineral metabolism indicators in the blood of patients with chronic pancreatitis depending on their biological age. Materials and methods. Examination of 218 patients with chronic pancreatitis in the age aspect, on the basis of quantitative study of certain parameters of vitamin and mineral metabolism in the blood. Results. The study of nutritional insufficiency in chronic pancreatitis depending on the biological age of patients indicates that the age of patients is a predictor of vitamin and mineral deficiency, as well as accumulation of toxic minerals in the blood serum. Conclusions. The data obtained indicate that the age of patients with chronic pancreatitis is a predictor of vitamin and mineral deficiency, accumulation of toxic minerals, which must be taken into account when developing a comprehensive treatment for this category of patients.Downloads
